Deshedding Tools publishes practical, animal-first educational content about loose hair, coat types, grooming tools, and routines. We're interested in contributors who can explain a topic clearly, acknowledge limitations, and help readers make informed decisions without hype.
Topics we consider
- Choosing brushes, undercoat rakes, combs, shedding blades, and sweat scrapers for appropriate coat types.
- Gentle grooming routines for dogs, cats, and horses, including ways to make sessions more comfortable.
- Seasonal shedding, coat maintenance, tool cleaning, and practical grooming checklists.
- Breed- or coat-specific guides that offer careful distinctions rather than one-size-fits-all claims.
- First-hand professional or owner experience that provides repeatable, useful lessons.
Contributor guidelines
- Original work: Submit a new article that has not been published elsewhere and is not being submitted simultaneously to other publications.
- Length and structure: Most accepted guides will be around 800–1,500 words, with a clear title, descriptive headings, concise paragraphs, and actionable advice.
- Reliable claims: Support factual or safety-related statements with reputable sources. Do not present personal experience as veterinary advice or make unsupported health claims.
- Reader-first writing: Use natural US English, define specialist terms, avoid keyword stuffing, and disclose relevant financial or professional conflicts.
- Images: Include only images you created or have permission to use. Tell us the source and license for each image; do not submit watermarked or copied product photos.
- Links: Relevant citations may be included. We do not accept paid links, link insertions, spun articles, promotional copy disguised as education, or articles written mainly to promote a product or website.
What to send
Start with a short pitch rather than a complete article. Include a working headline, a 2–4 sentence summary, the intended reader, why the topic adds something useful to our existing guides, a few relevant sources, and two or three sentences about your experience with the topic.
Please also disclose any product sponsorships, affiliate relationships, or other conflicts relevant to the proposed article. We may edit submissions for clarity, style, accuracy, length, and site fit. Sending a pitch does not guarantee acceptance or publication, and we will not publish material without confirming final terms with the contributor.
